What to Expect

Your initial call will be answered by our friendly and courteous receptionist staff. They will ask some preliminary questions, and then your call will be routed to the appropriate legal assistant of the attorney with whom you wish to consult. The legal assistant may ask you some additional questions about you and/or your situation, and will then work with you to schedule an appointment as soon as possible. In the case of extreme emergency, special appointments can be arranged. The legal assistant will let you know what types of documents, if any, should be brought to your initial consultation.

When you arrive at the office, you will be asked to fill out a Client Initial Information Form. This document asks for very basic biographical information. When the form is completed, you will meet with your attorney for the initial consultation.

Most initial consultations will consume between one and a half to two hours. The cost for the consultation will be based on that attorney's hourly rate. If the client wishes to proceed, the attorney will set up an engagement fee and provide the client with a copy of the Engagement Agreement. The client may then review the Engagement Agreement and the attorney will answer any questions the client may have about the agreement. Once the Engagement Agreement is signed, and the engagement fee paid, the Firm will commence its representation. At the initial consultation, the attorney will obtain as much history as is necessary to adequately answer your questions and provide you with a basic understanding of Maryland Family Law as it affects you.

All legal services are billed at an hourly rate and those rates vary depending on the lawyer's years of experience.
